★BOOK REVIEW★ The Will by Kristen Ashley

The Will was more than a pleasant surprise last year! It really took me back to the “vintage” Kristen Ashley feel. The over-descriptiveness, (which I LOVE), the heroine inner talk, the protective alpha hero, the family moments, the sweet sweet romance and the sexy times…! If you’re looking for all of the above, don’t wait a second more and crack open this little KA gem!
(The Will is currently on sale at $0.99 on Amz and Itunes!)

The Story

91ru4yZOdXL._SL1500_Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love. But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it. Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

My Review

(With “The Soaring” release coming tomorrow, March 16, 2015, I thought I’d share with you my last year review of “The Will”, book 1 in Kristen Ashley’s Magdalene Series. )
                                            ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I am sure I can’t make justice to the masterpiece I read. It was romance at its best! I will simply try to tell you how it felt for me and what you can expect to find in it, leaving to you the privilege of meeting Josephine and Jake in The Will.

“My most precious possession, the thing I treasure above anything else in this world … I hereby bequeath to …”

There is a something to say about Kristen Ashley.
She has her unique way to draw you in a world for you to wish it existed.
She is one of a few authors to tell tales about what I’d like to consider real people.

“…although it feels lovely you wish for me to have all kinds of beauty, I’m perfectly happy without it.”

I remember perfectly well the first time I read a Kristen Ashley book, it was Mystery man. I couldn’t believe the gem I had in my hands. I asked myself out loud “where have you been all this time?” I devoured it.
I think I read 5 KA’s book that week. I wanted to stay in her world and never coming back to reality.
This was only a year ago and by now I have read all her books. Some of them several times.

“I can’t read all that in babe, Jake.” – “You’ll learn to read my babes.”

See, every time I open KA’s books I lose myself in them. The characters talk to you. You forget you are reading a story, they are real. So real they push emotions your way that I can guarantee are very real. They make mistakes. They are certainly not perfect.
If you have ever read a Kristen Ashley’s book you know what I’m rambling about.

If this is your first time or chance to read one of her books, I hope you’ll fall in love just like I did with her descriptions, her “talk”, her alpha males, feisty heroines and beautiful families. I hope you will feel as much as I do when I open her books.

“Every inch of you, outside and any way you can get inside, baby, physically or emotionally, is mine.”

The Magdalene series is a little different than her others series, there is no action or full drama, little by little and page after page you are taken along the road of Josie and Jake lives. You’ll get to know them, their family, their past, their yearnings.

“Don’t know, Josie. Just know whatever it is I want you to be a part of it and I hope like fuck you want the same.”

You will learn that life doesn’t end at forty. That your past does not define who you are.
That something you were missing all your life could still be found. That something you felt underserving of is in fact very righteous .
It is really a slow paced journey, a peaceful one in Magdalene, Maine. So take your time reading it, enjoy your time there.

“Life is like a boxing match. Defeat is declared not when you fall but when you refuse to stand again.”

One thing this author can write like no other is certainly her epilogues. She is the Queen.
A little advice in Kit’s books, when you see this little line “Epilogue”, brace yourself. Because even if you were a sobbing mess already at the end of the story, this part of the book will make you fall. Hard.
You will feel it in the back of your throat, you will feel it prickling your eyes, you will try to contain it, but I can assure you the overwhelming twirl of emotions will make you cry happy tears like you never had for a book.
