★THROWBACK THURSDAYS★ After Hours by Cara McKenna

Hey guys! I thought I would introduce a new feature!
Every thursdays, I’m going to talk about the book I was reading last year at the same date!  I’ll add for the fun, a nice vintage and completely random picture. (You know how I love the vintage commercials, and the funniest the better!)
I would love for you to play along and share in the comments which book you were reading same time, last year! Would you re-read it? Have your tastes evolved since? Or was it an all time favorite? Tell me all about it in the comments section at the end of this post, 🙂

Last year I was reading...

A dangerous infatuation with a rough and ready man…81L1+8m0uNL._SL1500_Erin Coffey has been a nurse for years, but nothing’s prepared her for the physical and emotional demands of her new position. Needing to move closer to her dysfunctional family, she takes a dangerous job at Larkhaven Psychiatric Hospital, where she quickly learns that she needs protection—and she meets the strong, over-confident coworker who’s more than willing to provide it.

Kelly Robak is the type of guy that Erin has sworn she’d never get involved with. She’s seen firsthand, via her mess of a sister, what chaos guys like him can bring into a woman’s life. But she finds herself drawn to him anyway, even when he shows up at her door, not eager to take no for an answer.

What Erin finds even more shocking than Kelly’s indecent proposal is how much she enjoys submitting to his every command. But he can’t play the tough guy indefinitely. If they want to have more than just an affair, both will have to open up and reveal what they truly need.

One thing I LOVE about Cara McKenna is how she paints realistic heroes and settings. And it’s was no different in ‘After Hours’. I enjoyed this slow burn romance story and really appreciated the fact that the hero wasn’t yet another billionaire alpha. Most of her characters are older as well, and I find myself enjoying this type of stories and settings more and more. I can definitely say that this author was the one to make me truly appreciate Happy For Now endings (HFN). There’s no sickly sweet Heas, nor there is stupid drama in her stories. If you feel like something different, with an intense brooding hero, give Kelly Moback and Erin Coffey a chance!

Hey Jennifer, most of her books focus on everyday people. I love her writing style and I must admit, everything she writes is smokin’hot. She’s one of my favorite authors. 😉
(Have you read ‘Hard Time’? If not, you MUST! )

I adored After Hours, I think it’s my favourite Cara McKenna story. I actually just finished the audiobook of it a month or so ago. And looking at goodreads, last year around this time I was reading Hot Island Nights by Sarah Mayberry. She became one of my go-to authors after reading that one and Her Best Worst Mistake.
