★THROWBACK THURSDAYS★ Word Play by Amalie Silver

Hey guys! I thought I would introduce a new feature!
Every thursdays, I’m going to talk about the book I was reading last year at the same date!  I’ll add for the fun, a nice vintage and completely random picture. (You know how I love the vintage commercials, and the funniest the better!)
I would love for you to play along and share in the comments which book you were reading same time, last year! Would you re-read it? Have your tastes evolved since? Or was it an all time favorite? Tell me all about it in the comments section at the end of this post, 🙂

Last year I was reading...

81ILC5EgEKL._SL1500_Smut sells.

Michael Rourke learned this the hard way.
Struggling to make ends meet as a mystery writer, he sold his soul – and his pride – as he pedaled sex and lust writing under the pen name Christoph Strong.
No one knew he was the one behind the steamy stories on the bestsellers lists. And he planned to keep it that way.
Until he met her.

Monica Singer, an infamous blogger, is keen to discover the truth of his secret identity.
During a chance meeting at a book convention, Michael and Monica form an instant connection. And soon, an industry rivalry becomes something else entirely.
But as Michael starts to let his guard down, he doesn’t realize that the person he’s learning to trust may be hiding secrets of her own.
Secrets that could ultimately destroy everything

Smut sells. With that simple line, Amalie Silver got me. She surprised me with this satirical romance around the book/blogger/author romance world. If you read romance, if you are a blogger, if you follow a romance book blog, your favorite authors on Facebook, Twitter then this book is for you!
The author cleverly mixed humour, sexy times, and criticism about the book romance community. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at some situations, some parts I think were a little rushed, and maybe the romance aspect between the MCs could have been more developed. I really liked Michael and Lauren and I wouldn’t have minded reading a little more about them.

  1. Ooh! This is fun! According to Goodreads, from May 29th to June 1st I was reading ‘Twas the Night After Christmas by Sabrina Jeffries. It’s the six book in the Hellions of Halstead Hall series, but it’s more loosely connected than the other books. I gave it 4-stars, did not review it, but I really liked all of the Halstead Hall books and was eager to read this one. Based on the fact that I can only vaguely remember what it was about, I’d say it wasn’t the best of the series. I will probably re-read it at some point because it is part of this series that I liked.

Back when i read a lot of historical romances, Sabrina Jeffries was one of my top go-to authors. Since I’ve been reading more contemporary stuff, I’ve really missed a lot of books by her. Reading the Hellions series was me trying to play catch up. Next series I try from her will be The School for Heiresses.

Hey Shan! I know exactly what if feels to vaguely remember—or not remember at all— a book I’ve read a few months ago. I do review whenever I have time, motivation, but most of the time I simply rate and move on to the next book!
Most of my Throwback Thursdays so far are featuring books I didn’t take time to review back then.
It gives me an opportunity to recommend or talk bout them and is a great way to exercise the brain! lol

Sabrina Jeffries sounds familiar, though I didn’t read much historical romances so far. I like them, but there are so many of them, I always feel a little lost when I have to pick one.
I’ll definitely check her books soon!
      Thank you for playing! 🙂
