The Story

BeautifulPlayer_375x582Neil Ryan is running from the shadows of the past. One night investigating an impossible homicide in his sleepy hometown of Cavanagh, Tennessee and everything Ryan thought he knew about justice changed. He left the town he loved and his comfortable life there searching for the truth. But that search has turned up only dead ends and three drunken days wallowing in his anger in America’s wildest, sexiest city leads Ryan to more loose ends than he could ever hope to tie up. Adding to the frustration of a fruitless search is the shy smile that Evangeline Lavigne tries to keep to herself. Two days of flirting and one long, sultry dance and the woman cuts out on Ryan leaving him confused, frustrated and more than a little anxious. But when a robbery sends Ryan straight into Evangeline’s care at Tulane Medical, they’ll face the attraction between them and, if Ryan plays his cards right, he can find the strength and healing he seeks in the arms of New Orleans’ sexiest ER doctor…

My Review

If you haven’t read any of the Beautiful series yet, then you’re in for a treat! I don’t know what kept me from reading this one, but whatever the reason, it was wrong!

I’m going to make quick recap (ahaha as if!) of what’s going on in this one as I think it’s safe to say almost everyone has read it by now.

Each Beautiful book is centered around a couple falling in love, we met, Ryan Bennet and Chloe Mills in BASTARD, Max Stella and Sara Dillon in STRANGER, and we finally get to see our PLAYER, Will Sumner falling for a woman.

These books keep getting better and better! I loved the first one, (if you enjoyed Wallbanger, Tangled…) and loved the second book even more, but I must say I was really surprised with this one! I wasn’t expecting it to blow my mind!
I will admit right here and right now that whenever Max Stella is involved :

And this is now also true for Will Sumner…

The story…

Living in New york, Hanna aka Ziggy, is a 24 years old student scientist dedicated to her work. Okay, truth is, she barely leaves her lab.
Her big brother, Jensen, worried about her social life – or lack thereof- pushes her to call his friend Will to help her getting out and meet people.

Remember, Will Sumner? He is the player of our sexy bunch of New Yorkers, doesn’t plan to settle down EVER. Has scheduled hook ups with several women. Yes, charming, right?

Soon they are meeting over a morning run, and Will is surprised to discover an all grown up “Ziggy”.
He’s pretty much rendered speechless by her no filter’s mouth, she basically says whatever is on her mind.
Ziggy has a much more specific idea of what she needs to break her boring routine. She needs to learn from a player, how to be with men. What could be better than study from the BEST?

“Not to change the subject, but I watched some porn last night.”
“Christ, Ziggs, you have zero filter.”
“Do women really make those noises in bed?”
I stilled, grinning over at her. “What noises, Ziggy?”
“Like, ‘Oh, oh, Willll, I need your cock’ and ‘Harder, harder, oh God, fuck me, big daddy’ . . . and so on.”
Her voice had gone soft, and breathy, and I was horrified to feel my dick lengthen. Again.
“Um, some do.”
She burst into laughter. “It’s ridiculous!”
“Maybe they do need my cock. Wouldn’t you like to want someone so much you need their cock?”
She took a long pull on her iced tea, considering this. “Actually, yeah. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted someone so much I would beg for it. A cookie? Yes. A cock? No.”

Both Will and Ziggy hit it off pretty quickly, developing a friend relationship, Will doing his best to help Ziggy with her “game”. Improving her dressing, flirting, sexting… Oh the sexting parts were hilarious!

-What are you wearing?
-Black jeans, yellow top, blue sweater.
-No, Ziggy. I mean *insert innuendo* WHAT ARE YOU WEARING.
-I don’t get it.
-I’m sexting you.

Things escalate pretty quickly, Will giving Hanna her first taste at what other men would like and realizing at the same time she’s different from all the other women he hooked up with. He’s confused about where this is all leading them to, but for Hanna’s experiment sake, he keeps a straight face.

Will coaching seems to work, seeing as soon enough, Hanna gets a date. Will was maybe way over his head already, the idea of his Zigs with another man is driving him nuts.

Little does he know that Hanna is experiencing the same predicament and is barely trying to honor her date…
Both admitting their attraction and chemistry for each other, the fun begins…

The sex scenes were scorching hot, playful and something you better know right now is the level of dirty talk involved. High. Melting your panties kind. Will Sumner is sure sex driven, and I loved that he was a “talker”. Best of all, it wasn’t awkward, as often encountered in erotica or romance books.

Angst was delivered moderately, and drama was defined by the well known misinterpretation and indecisiveness, but again sparingly displayed. I thought it made sense with both Hanna and Will personalities, and it wasn’t over stretched.

All in all you have great contemporary romance book right here! With some truly hot moments, but I must say what really made me love this book was the great quality banter. Will and Hanna were hilarious!

“See, the problem with boobs is if you have big ones, you can never look thin. You get these burns on your shoulders from bra straps, and your back hurts. And unless you’re using them for their intended purpose, they’re always in the way.”
“In the way of what? My hands? My face? Don’t you blaspheme in here.” He looked up to the sky. “She didn’t mean it, Lord. Promise.”
Ignoring him, I said, “That’s why I had a reduction when I was twenty-one,” which is when his expression morphed into one of horror.
“Why on earth would you do that? That’s like God giving you a beautiful gift and you kicking him in the nuts.”
I laughed. “God? I thought you were agnostic, Professor.”

Wonder Woman, smitten, over.
